It is no longer news that the African
Fabric known as ANKARA is cherished tremendously by fashion lovers both locally
and internationally. This statement has been proven beyond doubt by the passion
shown by emerging designers and guests at the first edition of Ankara Soiree Fashion
show and Exhibition held on Saturday 27th July 2013 in Lagos,
Nigeria.
The exhibition which started earlier in the
day saw designers display creativity, style, talent and originality in using
the Ankara fabric to make elegant clothing, accessories and lots more. The
visitors and some of Nigeria’s celebrities present mingled around the stalls to
patronize exhibitors before taking their seats to watch the exclusive run way
show anchored by the pretty and charming Mamuzo Ogbeta.
The models walked the runway elegantly in
different designers cloth, up and coming fashion collections where showcased
from designers; Igho Fashion, Mide fashion County, Fredrick Sawyerr, Babe 4
Life, Cinai Couture, Buchy by Miraexcel, Black n Emmy, Valentina Sparks and of
course their elegant look was done by Poland Makeover.
The Principal Consultant of Skyline Image
and Events Limited organizers of the Ankara Soiree Mrs Prudence Onyejiaka said
the event was born out of the need to provide publicity for young and upcoming
designers/ entrepreneurs in Nigeria by showcasing their talent to a select
public, promoting our beautiful culture and impacting this cultural creativity
and patriotism on the entire public. “We cannot get tired of showing the world
how creative and talented we are in Nigeria using our own African fabric which
today has become a universal brand” she said.
Media organisations ranging from
Silverbird Televison, Supercreen Television,
City People Entertainment, Guardian Newspaper were there to give their
unflinching support as well as organizations such as Grand Oak Limited, Purple
Campaign and Freelance Creative Concept. Upcoming music artists like Agoha,
Wondaland, Sherryphat, GG Fabulous, Chidon and others were present to liven the
place even the more.
